I talk to so many students that are confused, unsure, or just plain down scared about their future. There is a lot of pressure in our society to succeed after high school. Going to college, getting a job, and starting a family is the routine that many students are taking after high school, but many don’t understand how to get there successfully in the now. HOW DO I START HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION IN MY DAILY LIFE SO THAT WHEN THE TRANSITION COMES IT IS SMOOTH?

THE WORD –  first and foremost rely on God’s word DAILY. root yourself in his word so that you can learn his promises. everything lines up with his word in the end, your future, your plans, and your life.

PEACE – you must have a sense of peace DAILY. when you have peace usually it means you are headed in the right direction. Many times this comes into play with big decisions such as college choices, job choices, and relationship choices.

PEOPLE – surround yourself around good people DAILY. pastors, parents, teachers, and friends are a lot of times good people to have in your life and God will speak through these people to you about what God might have for you.

DESIRES – what can you see yourself doing DAILY? what are you passionate about? what do you love? a lot of times God has placed something in you at birth, such as a talent, that you might turn into an act of worship for the Kingdom.

I have come across many couch potato students who are wasting away their teenage years.  When I ask how their weekend went or what they did the usual response is something like, “I was bored” or “I played some video games”  A handful believe if they lived somewhere different they would get inspired and boredom would disappear or if they had the opportunity to change families they would get up and move around or if they were just a little more athletic things would be different. The motivation to do something is fueled by inspiration, which can be gained no matter who you are, where you live, or if God created you athletic or not.

God has a way of getting us moving in the right direction by using different things in our world to spark life into our day.

3 secrets that inspire me from day to day that get me from the couch to the world…

1. the power of a good book: lots of times a book that I read inspires me to action or sparks a creative idea.

2. the power of people: i have chosen to surround myself around others who are out to experience life. these people inspire me to become something, make something, or do something. they are people that are highly motivated and they come from different backgrounds and areas.

3. the power of music: music has a way of lifting the soul. i love putting on worship music and getting inspired or putting on a sweet CD and jamming out. music is powerful and can help inspire you.

so go do something today! Read a book, make a new friend, or listen to some music. i challenge you to step out of the norm and let God work in and through you.
